How To Steal With Advertising

By Steve Von Loren - Posted on 28 January 2010

The following “legally stealing” advertising examples are given to clearly illustrate the strategies behind legally stealing advertising campaigns.  These examples will spark the creative ideas for your own business.  Brainstorm with staff members, partners, etc., and see just how many creative legally stealing ideas you can come up with.

Chiropractors
Those people who believe in alternative medicine are our targets.  Consumers who believe in acupuncture, yoga, herb and vitamin supplements, and personal trainers are    probably open to the idea of healing themselves through chiropractic care.

A chiropractor could use any of the following examples for their practice directly in their

advertising.

If you’ve been to any chiropractic clinic within the last year, show us proof via receipt, and you qualify for a new patient program to consist of free consultation, exam, and x-rays.

It’s important to point out that a chiropractor could also use a very strategic ad campaign targeted for people who have chronic pain.  So a legally stealing strategy might be, If you are on any type of pain medication for a prolonged period of time we need and want to talk to you.  Simply bring in your bottle of pain medication.  You’ll immediately qualify for $50 worth of our services.
A chiropractor can simply change the name of the ailment directly in a headline; i.e., if you are experiencing menopause systems, we can help.  “Bring in your current medications and you can qualify for our new patient program.”

Plastic Surgeons
A plastic surgeon could target those people who have received Botox injections.  A headline could be, If you’ve tried Botox, or if you regularly receive Botox injections, or have even inquired about Botox, simply show us proof, via receipt, invoice, cancelled check and you’ll instantly qualify for our new Botox club membership.  This will include confidential medical consultation and $50 credit that you can use with our clinic.

A plastic surgeon could advertise -- if you have ever had a surgical procedure performed or had a consultation with another doctor, call us immediately for a special offer.  Those patients who already believe in the benefits of plastic surgery have already clearly identified themselves.  You no longer need to waste valuable time and money trying to convince people who aren’t interested in the services of a plastic surgeon.

You must reward those people who already believe in and use the products and services you offer.  They currently belong to your competitors.
